    What you Didn't know!

Music has been scientifically researched to show how it affects & influences the Frontal Lobe of our brains. At a deep level music stimulates activities of the amygdala, which regulates emotion, and even the brain stem, which is the center for many of the vital functions of our bodies such as breathing, heart rate and digestion. Music therapy has been widely used to help Depression, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons.

    Start at a young age!

Performing & playing music at a young age improves mathematical skills: By understanding beat, rhythm, and scales, children are learning how to divide, create fractions, and recognize patterns.

Physical skills such as coordination and motor skills; they require movement of the hands, arms, and feet. Performance or musical instruments is great for high-energy kids.

Cultivates social skills: Group classes require peer interaction and communication, which encourage teamwork, as children must collaborate to create a crescendo or an accelerando. If a child is playing his instrument too loudly or speeding up too quickly, he'll need to adjust. It's important for children to know and understand their individual part in a larger ensemble.

Refining discipline & patience: Playing an instrument teaches kids to persevere through hours, months, and sometimes years of practice before they reach specific goals, such as performing with a band or memorizing a solo piece. "Private lessons and practicing at home require a very focused kind of attention for even 10 minutes at a time.

Building Self-Esteem: Children can learn to accept and give constructive criticism when performing with others. Turning negative feedback into positive change helps build self-confidence.. Group lessons, in particular, may help children understand that nobody, including themselves or their peers, is perfect, and that everyone has room for improvement. "Presenting yourself in public is an important skill whether you become a professional musician or not. This also helps with public speaking!

    Private Lessons

    First 3-6 months

We recommend a 3-6 month private lessons window when joining Rock School. This gives the student the basic understandings of how to use their instrument, perform basic chords, and the interworking of how to practice and work hard each week to strive towards being in a band. We offer lessons in: Piano, Keyboards, Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Banjo, Harmonica, & Drums. We teach both traditional and suzuki methods by natural ear. Learning both styles will initiate the right and left hemispheres of the brain.

    Private Instruction

    6 months - 1 year

Before joining a band the student may feel like there is too much pressure to be in one. They also may feel scared of fellow class musicians or that they won't be good enough. We have formed a solution that allows for each student to grow to the best of their ability and at their own rate. Private instruction teaches the inter workings of how to be in a band, write songs, and stay up to speed each week with their current band. They will also visit with other bands and slowly integrate into one that they feel fits them.
